Hiking & Playing with Dogs

Olive, Kay’s number one girlfriend, partially tore a ligament, and after initial healing, is still not ready for full romping with Kay and his friends (Kay likes it rough). So we’ve mostly been hiking & walking with Kay’s friends.

Eddie (Siberian Husky) lives just across the street. Eddie is young and can pretty much romp free at “Bad Dog Beach” or “Bad Dog Lagoon” with Kay, since they rarely get in fights (we don’t give them a ball to fight over) – we just have to watch when they find some “food” washed up on shore.

After getting bit (twice) by Kay over the years, Olive (number one girlfriend) knows exactly how near Kay can be to a ball, before it’s not safe for her to grab it.

Olive lives about 40 miles away near Pasadena. Which gives us the opportunity to hike in places like, Sierra Madre, etc.. Other times (like in the summer when it’s cooler here) Olive comes to the beach, where we hike the Bolsa Chica Bluffs, or at Central Park, or Gum Grove Park (Seal Beach).

Kay also made friends with Koda, a Golden Retriever his age, that moved into our building temporarily. That’s unusual because he generally doesn’t like Golden Retrievers (I think because they don’t play rough enough). Kay has been teaching Koda how to play, and Koda has been teaching Kay to get along with Golden Retrievers. Koda moved back to San Diego, but they still text pictures with each other.
