Kay (Siberian Husky) with protective cone around neck and stitches on side just in front of back leg

Intro

So I was at the local dog park, having a blast running around and getting other dogs to chase me. When this German Shepard decided rather than chasing me (which is what I was trying to get him to do), he would ram my side with his teeth as I ran past him. OUCH! I rolled on my side and cried for daddy. Dad came over, and could not find any blood, but it did hurt when he touched where the German Shepard hit/bit me.

A few minutes later I felt better and wrestled with Ranger (8-month old Rhodesian Ridgeback) for about an hour or so.

Then dad took me home. But later in the evening my side was hurting again (maybe because I wasn’t being distracted with fun wrestling with Ranger). I started licking the sore spot, but it seemed to have swelled so I bit it open to drain it, and mom and dad took me to the vet to get it stitched up – how embarrassing!

I don’t mind putting the cone on so much, but I can’t run and play, and especially I can’t go to dog park until after the staples and drain tube are removed.

After 6 days, I decided the tube was ready to come out. Mom gave me food in the morning and then she went in the restroom. I took the opportunity to pull on the drain tube. Got it part way out before mom came out of the restroom. She was mad at me.

Then we went to the vet and he must have thought I was correct, because he finished pulling the tube out for me. and said I could probably get the staples out in another week! Man, another week of wearing the cone and more importantly no dog park, no running and wrestling with my buddies!
